Dear friends, neighbors and JCC supporters:
After 17 years of serving the community, the Board of
Directors of the JCC of Western Monmouth has decided to cease operations on or
about October 15th.
Our decision was based principally on financial
considerations as we have found it increasingly difficult, in a challenging and
uncertain economic environment, to raise or attract sufficient funding from
benefactor agencies/organizations needed to operate at a consistently high
level. In addition, we were informed at the beginning of this year that the
Jewish Federation of Monmouth County
is considering different delivery models for
Jewish programming, which we expect would ultimately impact the long-term viability
of the JCC.
It has been a privilege to provide you with outstanding
programming that has brought the community together. We are proud of the
programs we offered, some of which were as follows:
Arts and crafts programs
Couples social programs
Our Board was resolute in its belief that we needed to
finish what we have started; that is completing all programs and events
currently scheduled. This includes seniors programs scheduled for July 12th,
August 12th, September 16th, and October 24th
run by Marion Riback and Mitzvah Day, which
is our signature event to promote community involvement and help those in need
of among other things, food, clothing, books, and medical support. Mitzvah Day
is scheduled for October 13, 2013 and is expected to be better than ever, with
the support and involvement of over 15 community agencies. We look forward to
your involvement and attendance at these programs.
I would like to thank each of you for your support of the
JCC and I particularly want to thank my outstanding Board for helping to make
Western Monmouth County a better place for all of us to live.
